Soutron Global's Tony Saadat to Interview Author Guy St. Clair about Knowledge Services - The Book

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global has announced a special webinar for Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Soutron Global President and CEO, Tony Saadat, will interview Guy St. Clair, President and Consulting Specialist at SMR International about knowledge services, the topic of St. Clair's new book, Knowledge Services: A Strategic Framework for the 21st Century Organization.

Knowledge services — the management methodology that combines information management, knowledge management, and strategic learning to strengthen knowledge sharing — is now given much attention in the workplace. With knowledge workers now moving into the realm of knowledge strategy, the purpose of the book - according to St. Clair - is to offer a practical framework for these professional employees, positioning them for success in meeting their responsibilities as the organization's knowledge strategist. "The book is written," St. Clair said, "to provide guidance for the knowledge strategist and to serve as a reference for that management employee. And, not surprisingly, for anyone who aspires to be a knowledge strategist."

"SMR International and Soutron Global have maintained a successful strategic alliance for many years," Saadat said in announcing the up-coming interview. "Both of our companies have pioneered a wide range of innovations for clients over the years. Guy is recognized internationally for his work with knowledge services and with his new book on the subject, all of us at Soutron Global are excited to be the first to introduce Guy’s book to our many clients and friends."

St. Clair also notes his own enthusiasm for the interview.

"This public interview is a big step forward for our company," he said. "Tony and his team have been supporting and using our knowledge services construct for a long time, and at SMR International we are both pleased and gratified to have Soutron Global hosting this webcast. We’ve built a strong reputation in our work with knowledge services and knowledge strategy development, and we are extremely honored that Tony is going to bring the new book to the attention of so many working professionals."

The Saadat-St. Clair interview will begin at 11:00am PST (2:00pm EST) on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Go to www.soutronglobal.com to register.

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global announces that Maskwacis Cultural College has selected Soutron for their indigenous collection development and librarian training program. Maskwacis is an Indigenous People’s Cultural College based in Alberta, Canada. The college bases their philosophy, process and functioning on the values, wisdom, teachings and beliefs of the Plains Cree Culture.

"Soutron Global provides us with not just a standard ILS software product," states Manisha Khetarpal, MLIS, MA, Chair of Library Studies and Scholarly Research, Maskwacis Cultural College. "Soutron worked with us to develop the catalog for more than an access point. The Maskwacis catalog is a single window to the world of books, content creation, language learning and content sharing. Soutron is a social and community creating tool with real people conversations."

At the behest of the respected Keyta-Ayak (Elders) of the community, the college focuses its work on the realization of self-determination for native people through cultural-academic instruction and skill development. The Soutron library solution will provide students attending the Librarian Training Program hands-on training associated with the pillars of the program, one of which is the Culture Keepers role, whose lessons include the Cree indigenous language, reference service, and Indigenous Intellectual property copyright

Since as part of their mission, the college must act in a way that is true to the native way of human development by "seeking harmony with the environment, self and others", Tony Saadat, the President & CEO of Soutron Global, believes that "the ability of the Soutron solution to build harmonious Social Knowledge Networks around indigenous resources will help the Maskwacis meet their mission and retain their cultural knowledge while providing the community social cultural proof via tagging, rating, blogging."

Soutron Selected by The Egypt Exploration Society

Flexibility for both Library Management and Archive Collections Cited

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global announces that The Egypt Exploration Society has selected Soutron as their long-term library management solution provider.

Founded in 1882 as The Egypt Exploration Fund, the society has offices in both London and Cairo. The Society’s Ricardo Caminos Memorial Library houses a collection of some 20,000 monographs, series, journals and maps, and its Lucy Gura Archive contains the results of over 130 years’ excavations.

Its mission is to explore ancient Egyptian sites and monuments, to create a lasting record of the remains, to generate enthusiasm for, and increase knowledge and understanding of, Egypt’s past, and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting its heritage.

Soutron’s library management solution will be implemented to transform accessibility of both the Society’s library and archive collections, across a number of online devices, ensuring the Society is able to provide first-rate research facilities for Egyptologists.

Soutron is delighted to supply this leading archaeological society with their library solution. "We chose Soutron for our library management system because they offered a flexible solution that we feel we can use for both our library and archive collections. Even better – it was very competitive on costs, which is vital for a charity," says Hazel Gray, EES Office Manager and Librarian.

Carl Graves, Education and Public Engagement Manager and Archivist, adds, "Making our library and archive collections more widely available is one of our key goals, but is a large, long-term project. We look forward to working with Soutron to achieve that over the coming years."

"The Egypt Exploration Society project illustrates the beauty of Soutron. We designed and built it to be extremely flexible, allowing organizations to have a database solution that is easy to use, making information accessible via the web with minimum effort." says Graham Beastall, Soutron’s Managing Director. "We are excited about the prospect of helping the Society achieve their goals and making their wonderful collections more accessible."

International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Selects Soutron

Flexibility and Global Ease of Access Cited as Deciding Factors

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global announces that The International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation has selected Soutron as its Library and Knowledge Management System of choice.

ITOPF was established in 1968 in the wake of the Torrey Canyon incident and provides a wide range of technical services, most importantly in the response to spills of oils and chemicals at sea. The ITOPF library houses an extensive collection of books, reports, conference papers and technical articles on oil pollution, clean-up techniques and related topics.

Soutron is delighted to be able to help to provide the primary source of information for ITOPF's technical staff as well as students and visitors to the library. "ITOPF's current library database is past its prime and no longer fit for purpose in a digital age," states Information Officer Deborah McKendrick. "We are confident that Soutron can provide us with a modern, flexible system, incorporating all types of media, and easily accessible to our staff who are often scattered across the world."

"We could see how web-based technologies would free librarians and knowledge managers from the tyrannies of shrinking budgets, inflexible IT support and unwieldy legacy programs and would liberate library users from the restrictions of physical location and opening hours," says Graham Beastall, Soutron's Managing Director. "ITOPF's team of technical staff are in constant readiness to respond to ship-source spills anywhere in the world. With our completely web-based system these staff are able to access potentially crucial information, irrespective of where they are on the globe."
