LAC Group Expands Innovative Library as a Service Platform with Soutron Global

New Alliance Ratifies the Transformative Power of Soutron Global’s Library and Knowledge Management Solutions

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global announces that LAC Group, the Leader in Information Curation and Knowledge Management, has expanded its Library as a Service℠ ("LaaS") platform for law firms and corporations by forming a solutions alliance with Soutron Global. With the addition of the transformative Soutron library and knowledge management solutions, LAC’s LaaS now includes a spectrum of capabilities encompassing traditional on-site staffing and library management as well as cloud-based content delivery platforms and LAC’s distributed network of North American and UK-based researchers, librarians and information specialists. LaaS is designed to enable a more agile, just-in-time model to clients.

Library as a Service℠ leverages both client-side and LAC resources to offer complete end-to-end library management solutions and incremental offerings that augment existing in-house capabilities. With the addition of Soutron's Integrated Library Software system, clients of LAC Group will now be able to choose to integrate their existing ILS or leverage the LaaS-integrated Soutron ILS. Existing Soutron Global clients may apply their subscription to the LAC Library as a Service portal.

Further, Soutron Global clients can now choose to activate links directly to LAC's distributed force of law and corporate librarians around the globe to assist with primary and secondary research requests, marketing or pitch support with Competitive and Business Intelligence Reports, At-a-Glance Reports, setting up curated news alerts, and much more.

"The ability to seamlessly manage both print and digital assets is critical for today’s libraries," said Deborah Schwarz, Founder and CEO of LAC Group. "Partnering with Soutron Global gives clients greater flexibility to effectively use cutting edge tools and technology."

An important piece of LAC’s Library as a Service offering is its Knowledge Services Portal ("KSP"). Soutron ILS is now available to LAC clients as an alternative to traditional ILS options. Whether clients are leveraging LAC's professionals, or simply managing firm resources, acquisitions and budgets, Soutron delivers cost-effective ease of use.

"The selection of Soutron by LAC Group is verification of the transformative power of our library, information and knowledge management solutions," stated Soutron Global President & CEO, Tony Saadat. "LAC clients can expect more efficient delivery of core library services, increased user satisfaction, more user engagement, increased agility to meet changing information demands and reduced costs when they implement Soutron."

"After a close review of market options and several successful implementations of Soutron, it was clear that it would make a strong component of LAC's Library as a Service KSP offering. Efficiently integrating the Soutron ILS through an API allows us to deliver a single portal of resources. It furthers our commitment to address client requirements by delivering turnkey solutions. We are excited about adding Soutron to our platform." said Rob Corrao, LAC Group's Chief Operating Officer.

In addition to adding ILS capabilities through Soutron, LAC's Library as a Service Portal offers research tools, library spend analysis and benchmarking, rights clearance services, cataloging and metadata services, indexing support, marketing support, competitive intelligence and business intelligence research, curated news alerts, as well as a full suite of assisted primary and secondary research offerings.

Soutron Global Announces the Immediate Availability of the Soutron Skills Database

New Knowledge Services Solution Assists Transitioning From Collections to Connections

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global announces the immediate availability of its new knowledge services solution, the Soutron Skills Database. The Soutron Skills Database makes it easy for organizations to capture and codify information about staff and people in your industry or organization, the first step in the KM cycle (Dalkir, 2005)* to enable the creation of high-performance teams. Soutron Global will be unveiling its new knowledge services solution on June 8th at this year's Special Libraries Association conference.

Offered standalone or web-based, the Soutron Skills Database solution also integrates tightly into the Soutron library and information management solutions, thus enabling libraries and information centers to easily enhance their knowledge management/knowledge services (KM/KS) with secure skills and expertise identification services. "People are the most important conduits of information & knowledge," states Tony Saadat, President and CEO of Soutron Global. "Dalkir estimates that knowledge workers spend 1/3 of their time looking for information. By implementing our new knowledge services solution, you have the opportunity to reduce that time."

The Soutron Skills Database comes complete with a forms engine that takes advantage of the inherent flexibility of the Soutron Skills Database to provide easy data customization for identification of diverse industry skills, from hotel management skills to construction skills to medical skills and more. Advanced searching functionality lets users quickly find who has a particular area of expertise or has been involved in particular projects with other team members. "People Connections are as equally important as Resource Collections. When assessing know how and implementing a knowledge services strategy, don't ignore the benefits of managing your internal know who." Guy St Clair, President of SMR International and Knowledge Management Expert.

"Our close client service-oriented partnerships provided the opportunity to develop a new expertise identification solution, the Skills Database," states Graham Beastall, Soutron's Managing Director. "Following a successful development and test deployment, this new solution for managing skills and expertise within a discrete, secure community is now in production with our global partner."
